About Us...

A Service Company

In an era of supersize boxstores, Nathan Levin Furs is an anomaly - a third generation, family run, specialty, boutique/salon with a manufacturing and storage facility on site. Many of the furs sold in the large, lush showroom are individually sewn by hand, in the grand tradition of the couture - with patterns, canvas fittings, and expert craftsmanship- by not only the furrier, Nat Levin, but also by his crew of seamstresses and fur finishers who lovingly help construct every garment to fruition. Each garment and customer become a scenario into itself - the pattern work, the selection of the pelts, the sizing, the linings, and the fitting. This myriad of details helps to make the finished product unique to each customer.

History

One of the characteristics unique to fur is that it can be revitalized and restored from a state of old-fashioned, or out-of-date, style to a more contemporary look. We can completely re-fashion or perpetuate a "vintage" look by merely changing a sleeve, collar, cuff, or a yoke. The essence then becomes the right pattern. In remodeled work, the customer is shown a variety of styles which can accommodate their own garment.

Individual Attention

The allure of a custom made garment, or even a ready-made fur, requires that the silhouette of each purchaser be fitted to perfection. This is labor intensive and exacting work, which has been taught from one generation to the next - from father to son or daughter. There remain very few fur masters of the old school in America today. The skill lies not only in the mechanics, but also of matching the customer to the perfect style and pattern suited to his/her body, personality, and geshtaldt!

For all these reasons, we invite you to visit our salon to peruse our merchandise and make your selection.
